1. When does the lacrosse season begin and end?
Depending on weather and field availability, the season begins mid-March for the older teams and early-mid April for the younger players. They both end mid-June.
2. Will there be a conflict if my child plays two sports in one season?
For Bantam and Lightning level and K-1, playing two sports is not a problem. Junior and Senior levels are much more competitive and missing practices or games for another sport could affect playing time in games.
3. How many practices and games will be be played each week?
K-1 - Developmental - Always Sunday mornings, then 1-2 more times during the week. Most games are played in-house with a potential for an outside team game.
4. Off-Season Clinics
We offer a Sunday morning clinic beginning the end of January for 6 weeks for K-4 grades; and a Friday night clinic for girls Grades 3-4 and 5-6 on alternating weeks. Clinics for older players are available in the area and we post on our website when they are sent to us. If there is a choice between a NF program vs. another town's program, we suggest taking advantage of ours first.
5. Winter Leagues
Some winter leagues exist in the area, we do not, as NFYL, organize these teams, but some parents who may or may not be coaches sometimes form teams on their own. These winter leagues are generally fairly competitive and are not beginning level play for those just starting out.
6. What is the commitment for the K-1 Boys Program
The Boys K-1 Program practices on Sunday mornings. Eventually, if field availability and weather permits, they might play another day. They practice and end with a short game. An out of town game is possible if we find another young team to play.
7. What if my child is "waitlisted"?
The waitlist will be used to form a new team (if a parent steps up to volunteer) or to add to the existing team or if another player withdraws from the program.
8. Can my K-1 daughter play with the Boys program since there is not one for Girls?
A few girls have done this (mostly because their parents were coaches) but as a program we do not recommend it. The stick handling is very different for girls and we feel that the young players should start off learning the correct throwing motion, stick handling and cradling, instead of having to re-learn it when they get to Girls Grade 3 program. All of our teams exist because of parent volunteers. We welcome a parent interested in learning and coaching to step up and form a K-1 girls team.
9. Can I get a refund?
Refunds are given based on individual circumstances. Online registration costs the program money and therefore becomes a loss to us if a player withdraws his registration. Refunds will be given on a case-by-case basis and less the transaction fee we are charged.
10. Missing Emails?
If you think you have been missing lacrosse emails, please make sure LeagueAthletics.com is an "approved sender". This should allow anything with the @leagueathletics.com suffix to be received. The website takes several measures so that email does not appear to
be spam but, cannot completely account for the ISP blocking email.
Please go to "Edit my Account" on lower left of this website to change your email information if necessary.
